Weekly Drop: Max Toy Co Farewell Glow, They Live Invaders and a Wall of Fresh Sofubi (July 2026)
Comic-Con week, and the shelves here got hit hard. Twenty plus pieces landed over the last few days and the theme wrote itself: glow in the dark vinyl, horror sofubi, and a couple of They Live invaders that showed up at the same time by pure accident.

Hero of the Week
Max Toy Co Green Glow Kaiju Building Set
Green glow in the dark vinyl, unpainted. Four building set. The tower sits under the other three and is not really visible in the picture, so you get one more piece than you think. New in bag with header.
Unpainted glow is the honest way to sell a sculpt. Nothing hiding the detail, and it lights up the whole shelf after dark. Great starter piece if you want a Max Toy item that is not going to cost you a few hundred.

Max Toy Co Closed Its Doors. Here Is Why That Matters.
If you missed it, Max Toy Company shut down in 2026 after more than twenty years. Mark Nagata put up a plain farewell on the site: after 20+ years, they are now closed. He is moving into semi retirement and keeping the creative work going under his own name over at marknagata.com.
Hard to overstate what Max Toy meant to sofubi outside Japan. Nagata was one of the people who made Japanese soft vinyl make sense to American collectors, and he did it for two decades. Now every Max Toy piece on the secondary market is a closed set. No more restocks, no more colorways, no more “I will grab it next time.”
We keep a deep Max Toy Co section stocked, and it is going to get thinner from here, not fatter. Worth a scroll.
Glow Gets the Spotlight
Three unpainted glow pieces at three very different prices, which is a nice way to see what glow vinyl actually does. Broke 1 Death Vader is $39 and new in bag with header, straight unpainted glow. The Violence Toy Future Axe is the big one at $165 and comes as figure, helmet and axe parts, all as shown.
The Secret Base Pumpkin Brain is the sneaky favorite. Double pour: clear orange outer vinyl over a glow inner pour, left unpainted so you can see straight through to the glow layer. It originally shipped with an LED that lit up when you shook it and there is still something rattling around in there, probably just wants a fresh battery. At $49 for a piece from a brand like Secret Base, that is a good deal. Halloween in July, fine by us.
They Live Shows Up Twice
Horror Business Novelty Giant Invader They Live
Hollow rotocast resin, two pieces. Head fits on a peg on the body. BIG, stands approx. 8 inches tall. Cool design, great figure, and it has real presence next to standard 6 inch sofubi. Loose, no packaging, like new condition.
John Carpenter’s 1988 film gave the hobby one of its best faces to sculpt: skull eyes, exposed muscle, no explanation needed. Filed in Resin.

Same week, a Marmit x SHB Clutter Edition Invader Series They Live came through too. Black vinyl with blue, red, gold and more paint, a Clutter Gallery exclusive limited to just 6 in that colorway. Very cool in hand. It is already gone, but that is what the Marmit and Skull Head Butt sections are for. Marmit has been making Japanese soft vinyl since the vintage era and SHB is one of the modern names worth chasing.
Big, Painted and Nasty
Violence Toys GIANT Painted Glow Basket Case Belial
When we say giant, it is 6.5 inches tall and nearly 8 inches wide. Glow in the dark vinyl under brown, pink, off white and more paint, and the scale makes every gross little detail land harder. Loose, no packaging, like new condition.
Belial is the lump in the basket from the 1982 cult film, and Violence Toy does licensed horror vinyl properly. See the rest in Violence Toy.

Frank Mysterio Green x Pink x Purple Skullgaramon
Unpainted marbled pink x green x purple vinyl. VERY cool. Bit of paint for the teeth and such. Amazing marbling on this one, the kind where no two casts come out the same. Loose, no packaging, like new condition.

Japanese Sofubi Heavy Hitters
Sunguts Black Ganesha
Classic Sunguts sofubi. Black vinyl with gold, purple, red and more paint. Very cool, and larger than you would think in hand. Includes the mouse omake as shown. Used, loose with no packaging, but like new overall.
The omake is the part people forget to check when they buy these secondhand. This one has it. More in Sunguts.

Rampage Toys Orange Factory Pollution Monster Hedoran
Squishy, and I mean SQUISHY, unpainted orangish vinyl. Never have I seen vinyl this soft. Loose with no packaging, new condition.
Hedoran is the sofubi scene’s nod to Hedorah, the sludge monster Toho built out of 1971 pollution anxiety. Rampage Toys has been turning that idea into original vinyl for years.

Zipangu Clear Green x Blue Mrs Levia
Clear vinyl with blue and green paint on the inside of the vinyl and black and red on the outside. Awesome paint app, and painting inside clear vinyl is a lot harder than it looks. Loose, no packaging, like new condition.

Kuidaore Toy Black x Blue Nyanzeon
Darker blue vinyl with a black paint rub. Back of the head has a slot cut into it, so you can run this as a bank, and there is a plug in the bottom you can pull out if you want. Loose without packaging, like new condition.
Function on a sofubi is rare and usually gimmicky. This one is neither.

Super7 Corner
Three Super7 pieces, three totally different corners of what that label does. The Rose Vampire is pink glow in the dark vinyl with a bit of white and red paint. Way too cool. Big Sal is clear purple lame vinyl with black and a bit of grey, an awesome collab between Kathie Olivas, Brandt Peters and Super7.
Then the Red Drunk Seijin, red vinyl with gold, metallic teal, white and more paint. Great Monster Family figure designed by KaToPe, new in bag with header. If you collect Gargamel, the Super7 collabs are the affordable door in. And with Comic-Con running July 23 to 26 this year, Super7 prices on the older stuff do not usually get quieter.
Odd, Fun and Under a Hundred
The Sqdblstr Karakasa Obake is blue and tan vinyl with brown, purple, yellow and more paint, part of the Yokai Sofubi Series. Karakasa is the one eyed umbrella ghost from Japanese folklore, which is exactly the kind of thing sofubi was built to sculpt. $48.
Chonky Tandy is blue vinyl with blue, yellow and more paint, great sofubi out of Bwana Spoons. $44 and it does not look like a $44 figure. The Monstock Mr Fujin San is clear orange vinyl absolutely full of gold and orange glitter. Hard to see all the detail through the lame, but Monstock never disappoints.
Orbitdyne Glowing Alien Head HEAP
Body is green and black marbled vinyl. Head is glow in the dark vinyl with green, pink and more paint. The head sets on the body, comes right off, and you can stash something inside. Pretty dang cool. Loose, no packaging, like new condition.

Barely Human Precious Peanuts
Two Barely Human Peanuts landed together and they are a fun pair on a shelf. Green vinyl painted up Yoda style on one, brown vinyl painted up Freddy Krueger style on the other, and Freddy comes with the hat as shown. Very cool. Both loose without packaging but in like new condition.

What We Are Watching
Two things worth keeping an eye on. First, Max Toy Co being closed for good means the whole catalog is now finite, and finite things move. Second, glow vinyl is running hot early this year. Halloween pieces usually start climbing in September, but the Secret Base pumpkins and the glow Violence Toy stuff are already turning fast in July.
New arrivals go up here all week long. Best place to catch them first is Kaiju and Sofubi, sorted by newest. Fun stuff!
