Weekly Drop: Shirahama x Gargamel DX Nekomata, VAG Series 44 & New Designer Sofubi (May 2026)
Lots of good stuff in at the end of May 2026. Some really nice Japanese sofubi this round, plus fresh resin. We pulled in a loaded Shirahama x Gargamel DX Nekomata ThrashOut set, the new VAG Series 44 wave, fresh resin from Dead Bird Toys, and a numbered MUD Toys x Retroband Krampus Barfie. Here is everything new at Vicious Fun, with a little on each piece.

Hero of the Week
Shirahama x Gargamel DX Nekomata ThrashOut Set
If you collect kaiju sofubi you know the names. Gargamel, started by Kiyoka Ikeda, is one of the OG Japanese soft vinyl studios. Hand-cast, hand-painted, small runs. Pair that with Shirahama Toy, known for chunky DX (deluxe) sets, and you get the Nekomata ThrashOut. Very cool.
This is the classic ThrashOut colorway, black vinyl with silver and red paint, and it comes loaded: the Nekomata itself, a wolf, a tower piece, a micro set, plus a bagged keychain and coin purse. Original box and header included, like-new condition. Outstanding in hand. At $399 it is priced right for everything you get. Sofubi like this is hand-cast from soft PVC in tiny runs and airbrushed by hand, so no two ThrashOuts are exactly the same.

VAG Series 44: Baketan and Shimomoku Kubita Baby
Medicom Toy’s Vinyl Artist Gacha (VAG) is the blind-box format everybody loves. Each wave has five artists, one sofubi character each, in five colorways, capsule packed. Series 44 brings back two favorites with new looks: Baketan and Shimomoku’s Kubita Baby. We grabbed loose, like-new pieces straight from the wave. Fun stuff.

Medicom x Baketan VAG Series 44, Gold Baketan
Baketan is the Japanese sofubi duo behind one of the cutest ghosts in the whole VAG roster. The Gold Baketan is an easy one to start with at just $18. Classic sofubi finish, sized to sit next to the rest of your VAG capsules. See the full Baketan collection for more colorways.

Medicom x Baketan x One Up Limited “I Bake” VAG (Clear Orange and Clear Red)
The One Up Tokyo shop exclusives are usually the chase pieces of any VAG drop, and these “I Bake” Limited editions are no different. Clear Orange and Clear Red, both clear vinyl with bold paint. These go fast. $48 each.
Medicom x Shimomoku VAG, Kubita Baby Trio
Shimomoku’s Kubita Baby first showed up in VAG Series 16 back in 2018 and people have loved it ever since. This wave has three fresh pastel colorways, Pink, Blue, and Peach. They look great as a set. At $24 each they are an easy grab for completists. More of the line in our Medicom collection.
Dead Bird Toys: Bone Ghost Resin Trio

Dead Bird Toys is the Northern California studio run by Jeff D’Ottavio, “making monsters for monster lovers.” One of the most consistent self-produced resin makers out there. This drop is a clean three-piece run of their Bone Ghost:
- Red x White x Clear Large Resin Bone Ghost, the marbled one at $58. Bigger size, unpainted raw resin. The marbling does all the work. Very cool in hand.
- Shimmery Green Bone Ghost, $40, with that shimmer-fleck resin Dead Bird is known for.
- Shimmery Purple Bone Ghost, $40, sister piece to the green.
Self-produced art toys like these are designed, cast, and shipped by the artist. Limited runs, no factory in between, straight from the maker. Awesome stuff.

MUD Toys x Retroband Limited Krampus Barfie (Numbered 1/10 Header)
Aaron Moreno, better known as Retroband, has been a big name in American sofubi out of San Antonio, Texas ever since he took home Break-Thru Artist of the Year at the 2014 Designer Toy Awards. His horror-toy style comes through hard on this Krampus Barfie collab with MUD Toys. Black vinyl, silver and red paint, comes with bag and skull, and the header is numbered 1/10. At $249, this one is for the serious horror-vinyl collector.

RoCom x Alex Pardee, OG Future Me (Signed)
The OG Future Me is the one that started it all. The original 9″ articulated soft vinyl release from Alex Pardee and RoCom Toys, which began as a Kickstarter hand-painted by Pardee and sofubi painter Quang Le. Thick limbs, wide feet, ’90s Playmates-style proportions. Pure designer-toy nostalgia. This one has a tiny touch-up spot on the box (circled in the photos) but is otherwise like-new, and the box is signed by both Alex Pardee and RoCom. $145.
