Weekly Drop: Gargamel 1/1 Mecha Zagoran, Anraku Ansaku Public Hazard & New Designer Sofubi (June 2026)
Good week for sofubi. Blind boxes are pulling a lot of new folks into designer vinyl, which is great, and a bunch of them are landing on the same thing longtime collectors already know: hand-poured, hand-painted Japanese sofubi just hits different. Everything in this drop is small-run, artist-made soft vinyl. We’ve got a 1/1 custom Gargamel mecha, some cryptid creatures, and a pair of vintage tokusatsu masks. Here’s what just landed at Vicious Fun.
Hero of the Week
Gargamel 1/1 Custom Mecha Zagoran
Gargamel needs no introduction. The Tokyo studio tied to Kiyoka Ikeda, and one of the names that put designer sofubi on the map. Zagoran is one of their OG original kaiju, and this one is special: a 1/1 custom hand-painted by Ikeda on clear and lame vinyl.
Outstanding in hand. And it gets better when you spot the micro driver in the chest “piloting” the mecha. Signed and numbered 1/1 on the foot, dated 2016, ships loose in like-new condition. Pictures do not do this one justice.

Cryptids & Creatures
Studio Kabuto, Sunrise Glow Hopkinsville Goblin
Part of Studio Kabuto’s cryptid sofubi series, sculpted by Anna Ditter. The little goblin comes straight out of American folklore. It’s the creature from the Kelly-Hopkinsville encounter of August 1955, when a Kentucky farm family said they spent the night under siege from small silver creatures with glowing eyes. One of the most famous close-encounter cases out there. The “Sunrise Glow” colorway suits a creature of the night just right. Fun stuff.

Lemaotoy, Blue Poisoning Rattan Monster
Mid-size original kaiju from Lemaotoy. Blue vinyl with pink, tan and red paint. Signed on the base and ships with a hologram authenticity sticker. Very cool in hand, and a good reminder that the indie sofubi scene is going strong well past the usual studios.

Yokai, Heads & Hand-Painted Vinyl
Shirahama, Golden Lame Micro Nekomata Jijyo
The Shirahama Nekomata is a fan favorite, a two-headed cat creature based on the nekomata, the forked-tail cat yokai from Japanese folklore. This micro is unpainted gold lame vinyl and it really catches the light. About the easiest way into a cult sofubi line. Nice.

Magitarius, Plumule Gum x Glow Marbled Namakubi V2
From the husband-and-wife studio Magitarius, the Namakubi V2 is built around the namakubi (生首), the “freshly severed head” motif you see all through traditional Japanese irezumi tattoo art, long tied to courage and accepting your fate. The “Plumule Gum x Glow” marble swirls bubblegum tones into glow vinyl. Macabre and gorgeous at the same time. Awesome sofubi.

Vintage Tokusatsu: Rainbow Goranger Masks
Rainbow does soft-vinyl tributes to vintage Showa-era tokusatsu, and these two masks are the villains from Himitsu Sentai Gorenger, the 1975 Toei series that kicked off the whole Super Sentai line (and eventually Power Rangers). A real nostalgia hit for old-school kaiju and tokusatsu folks.

Big, bold, vintage-style mask in classic tokusatsu villain form. Great on a Showa-era shelf.

Grail Watch: Heavy Hitters (Sold Out / Archive)
A couple of heavy hitters landed and moved fast. Logging them here for the folks who track the rare stuff:
- Anraku Ansaku Public Hazard “Cadmium”. An OG AA sofubi in clear silver lame with black, blue and gold paint, complete with the original header and the Public Hazard diagram sheet. Very cool. ($1,199 · sold out)
- Kvltvs × King Hideous Imperial Green King Sheol. A dark collab kaiju from two respected names in the underground sofubi scene. ($199 · sold out)
Why Sofubi?
If blind boxes are how you got here, traditional sofubi is the deep end. Each figure is hand-poured from hand-cut molds, hand-painted, and put out in tiny numbered runs by independent artists. It’s a craft that goes back to 1950s and 60s kaiju and tokusatsu toys and got revived as collectible art through Tokyo’s street-culture scene in the 1990s. That’s why no two pieces come out quite the same, and why a 1/1 custom like this week’s Zagoran really is the only one.
